    Description

1922 Ty Cobb Handwritten Signed Two-Page Letter. Ty Cobb was known for his win-at-all-costs attitude. Second place was not an option for the first man to eclipse the 4,000 hit mark. While he may have had a reputation for a mean streak a mile long, in this handwritten letter "The Georgia Peach" generously offers a bit of advice to a down-and-out ballplayer. The two-page handwritten letter is to big leaguer Jess Altenburg who is looking for some career guidance. Altenburg was wallowing in the minors and in need of a fresh start.

"The only advice I can offer you now is to get the lowest amount from the owner of club they will take for your release just as if you wanted to buy it state you know Augusta has wanted you but you are not so sure you want to come south when you get that amount in writing what your release will cost them..."

Cobb signs off with a "Very Truly, Tyrus Cobb" signature. The letter is on Detroit Baseball Company stationery and has standard mailing marks. The autograph is not affected by the fold marks. The writing and signature are 7/10 to 8/10 in strength. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
