1921 World Series Press Pin. The first appearance in the Fall Classic for the New York Yankees, and New York City's inaugural "Subway Series," as the Yanks and Giants were still sharing space at the upper Manhattan Polo Grounds ballpark this season. One lucky journalist on hand for the eight-game Coogan's Bluff battle attended the spectacle with this small but important pin affixed to his lapel, and over eight decades later it still retains its Golden Age shine. "World Series Polo Grounds New York Press" is spelled out in gold block lettering on a blue enamel ring that encircles a ball and bats design and the number "1921." Original brooch pin and clasp are complete and undamaged on verso, which bears the imprinted manufacturer's "Whitehead & Hoag" name. The slightest touch of tarnish to the outer ring at upper right and a pin point spot on the white enamel are all that prohibit a NRMT grade, and certainly the former could be easily remedied. One of the finest known specimens.
