Description
1921 New York Giants World Championship Pendant. Though his Major League tenure was limited to just fifteen games, Howard Berry was fortunate to spend that brief career in the company of legends like Kelly, Frisch, Bancroft and Youngs, who conquered Babe Ruth's Yankees to take the Championship in 1921. Presented is the fourteen-karat gold prize issued to Berry for his services, a gorgeously crafted pendant from the fabled artisans of "Dieges & Clust," whose mark appears on verso. The face features a female victory form holding a laurel wreath and a shield inset with a genuine quarter-karat diamond. Text reads, "Giants, World's Champions, 1921." On verso, text reads, "Presented to Howard Berry by the Commissioner of Baseball." Let us make it clear that this is the 1921 equivalent of the Championship ring, the main jewelry award for winning the Series. Almost never do such early Championship artifacts surface within the hobby, and bidders should see this as a rare and special opportunity. The pendant remains in wonderful condition with just the slightest evidence of light wear. Our catalog imagery should illustrate just what an attractive and impressive offering this is.Auction Info
