Description

1920's Baseball Autograph Book Signed by Ruth, Gehrig & More. Charming little book was once the proud possession of a young baseball and ham radio enthusiast in the later years of the 1920's. In a childlike hand he lists all of the stations he has been able to tune in, and a modified box score for a 1927 Red Sox vs. Yankees game he heard on his radio. The opening three pages of the book, however, document a close encounter with many of the stars he followed on the airwaves. Most notable are 10/10 pencil signatures from Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, though the first page boasts a tremendous gathering of ink signatures including Dave Bancroft, Pie Traynor, Ki Ki Cuyler and Joe Cronin. The spine of the small leatherbound volume has loosened over time but the pages still remain attached, and while there is toning at the outer edges the autographs themselves are not materially affected. An embodiment of the age of innocence and wonder that was Golden Age baseball. LOA from PSA/DNA.
