1920 Ray Chapman Memorial Program from Cleveland Indians Teammate. "On Saturday, the eleventh day of August, nineteen hundred and twenty, W.S. Fitzgerald, Mayor of the City of Cleveland, appointed a committee to select and erect a suitable permanent Memorial to the memory of Raymond Johnson Chapman, and to prepare and present a copy of the following funeral oration by Rev. Dr. William A. Scullen, to his bereaved widow, mother and teammates," opens the text from this rare booklet borne of the greatest on-field tragedy in twentieth century Major League Baseball. The twelve-page leatherbound volume pictures the memorial plaque in question, and then presents Chapman's heartbreaking eulogy in artfully rendered text. The cover of the program is embossed in gold lettering with a presentation to Guy Morton, a pitcher for the stunned 1920 Cleveland team. Some toning and light creasing to interior pages, but no issues of any genuine concern.
