Description

1919 Chicago "Black Sox" Payroll Check Signed by Lefty Williams & Charles Comiskey, PSA/DNA Gem Mint 10. One of the most effective left-handers in baseball, Claude Preston "Lefty" Williams went 23-11 for the 1919 Chicago White Sox to help propel them to the A.L. pennant and a World Series appearance versus the Reds. Unfortunately, he was implicated in the Black Sox scandal, received a lifetime ban by Major League Baseball, and will always be remembered as one of the "eight men out."

The oversized (3.5x8.5") "Chas. A. Comiskey. Comiskey Park" White Sox payroll check presented here is filled out and signed in the hand of Baseball Hall of Famer Charles Comiskey, with a date of "7/14/1919." The endorsing signature on verso, "C. Williams," is joined by further bank stamping of "Jul. 16 1919." The punching holes and bank stamps do not interfere with either autograph. The experts at PSA/DNA have awarded the Williams autograph a perfect Gem Mint 10 grade. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, Gem Mint 10 (Williams autograph).
