1914 Ty Cobb Advertising Sign, Part Two. This remarkable find is one of only two such pieces we have ever encountered in the collecting hobby, the first of which is presented in the lot that precedes this one. It promotes "Ty Cobb Sporting Goods" with the assistance of its namesake, who makes an appearance during an off day in Chicago. A notice clipped to upper left of the 11x14" sign reads, "See Ty Cobb In Action Here, September 9, 1914, Tigers vs. Black Sox." The central focus of the sign is a sepia 8x10" photograph of Cobb chasing down a fly ball. General soiling of the sign, and some damp staining to the cardboard mount, do little to distract from the great appeal of this stunning Cobb advertising piece.
