1914 New York Giants Silver Season Passes Matched Pair. The club that fell victim to the most searing "hot streak" in baseball history at the hands of the "Miracle Braves" issued this pair of passes at the beginning of that historic season to husband and wife, and that marital bond remains solid close to a century later in the form of this lot. Most collectors will be thrilled to find even a single example of this scoring pencil model dating from the era of Thorpe and Matty, and we double the pleasure here. Each features raised lettering on front which reads, "Keep Score with the New York Giants, Polo Grounds Season 1914, H.N. Hempstead, Pres." Versos are engraved "156 - Mr. Louis Mann" and "510 - Mrs. Clara Lipman Mann" respectively. Unbelievably, each still holds the original sharpened pencil inside! A small dent must be noted on the gentleman's pass, but otherwise both are free of noteworthy flaws.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
