    Description

1914 Grebnelle Championship Base Ball Parlor Game. There are two versions of the Grebnelle Base Ball Parlor Game, and this deluxe version is distinguished by the inclusion of a photo of the 1914 Boston "Miracle" Braves and a plaquard on the box lid announcing "World's and National League Champions' Ball Park, Boston 1914." The field on the box top is actually South End Park, the Braves' home field. Two playing surfaces are included. Grebnelle was from Philadelphia, so one playing surface honors his beloved Athletics with a sign stating "American League Champions Ball Park 1914 Phila." The other simply announces the name of the game. Also here are half a dozen score cards, various colored position discs, a game spinner, two rule books and a list of over 2000 players from which teams could be chosen. It's a remarkably in-depth study of the Dead Ball Era game. Some crushing and surface wear to the box, but aesthetics remain strong, as do the contents. Dimensions of box 9.5x22.5x2".

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
