1914 Charles Weeghman Signed Promissory Note--Builder of Wrigley Field. Four months after breaking ground for a new ballpark to house his Federal League franchise the Chicago Whales, team owner Charles Weeghman signed this promissory note (text in another hand) acknowledging his responsibility to pay $1200 to the bearer in three years' time. All ink is 8/10 or better, and the note exhibits no condition flaws worthy of mention. A separate document, a letter to Weeghman from the note's payee, identifies the transaction as relating to sixty shares of Chicago Whales stock. Finally, we have a studio cabinet photo (approximately 7x10") of Weeghman, VG-EX. Weeghman Park would be renamed Cubs Park in 1920, and Wrigley Field in 1927. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
