Description
1913 Philadelphia Athletics World Championship Presentational Watch Awarded to Jack Barry. He was a four-time World Champion during his eleven years of Major League service, blessed with the good fortune of a career split between the first great Philadelphia Athletics dynasty and the Babe Ruth-era Boston Red Sox. Presented is the shimmering manifestation of his third glorious October, the same model of fourteen-karat gold "Howard" pocket watch awarded to teammates Baker, Bender, Collins and Plank. The back of the case features an intricate baseball diamond design and the raised lettering "World Champions 1913." The lid flips open to reveal an ornately engraved "Jack Barry." The rare relic survives in remarkably fine (and operational) condition with no condition flaws worthy of note. Let us stress that no Championship rings or trophies were provided to the Athletics this season--this is the equivalent, the main, official World Series victor's prize.Auction Info
