Description

1913-1915 Roger Bresnahan Chicago Cubs Large Pennant. After successful runs with the Giants, Cardinals and other teams, Roger Bresnahan took his mitt to the Chicago Cubs for his final three playing years of 1913 to 1915. He provided solid veteran leadership, gave excellent guidance to pitchers especially rookies and was a popular addition to the team. Everything about this piece screams, "Rare!" Undocumented to the best of our research, this large and quite possibly one-of-a-kind 15x35" pennant features an approximately 6.5x9" real-photo portrait of the HOF player/manager holding the chains of the Cubs' bear cub mascot. The blue-green felt very nicely contrasts the fragile cream lettering. Overall, there is some staining and, as so commonly seen, the very end of the delicate tip is missing. In any condition, this piece is a stellar example of a player pennant from the early 20th Century and could be unique. This is the type of possibly uncirculated gem that one dreams of finding within a player collection. Thankfully, the original label is still in place for us to credit the "Geraghty Comp." with the creation of this beautiful piece. Unquestionably, a treasure missing from most, if not all Chicago Cubs collections. Letter of provenance from the Bresnahan family.

It goes without saying that after the auction when we had a chance to have dinner together and get to know each other it even made it a better experience for me. I look forward to getting more involved with Heritage in the Future.
