    Description

1910's Christy Mathewson King Pin Brand Tailoring Glass Advertising Slide. Christy Mathewson was generally regarded as one of the finest ballplayers on the field, and as equally fine of a gentleman off the field. As such, he was a natural fit for many advertisers to use as the image of a wholesome baseball player. The offered 3.25x4" glass slide advertises "King Pin Brand Tailoring" through "Resident Dealer R.C. Blackburn." An image of Mathewson is at the top right, wearing a crown, with his hand out in a pitching motion. Underneath it reads, "Christy Mathewson of the Giants" and "Accuracy" to his left. Around the outer edges is "Three Star Slide Co. 329 Plymouth Court Chicago." Condition is EX-MT or better with no cracks and vintage tape around the outer edges, as was the common practice with Magic Lantern and other similar glass slides.
