1910's-1950's Baseball Theme Ink Blotters Collection (27) With Mack, Ott, Frisch, Etc. The fountain and quill pens are products of an era long gone. If you worked in an office you used them and also had an ink blotter. Ink blotters are a thick, absorbent paper that were used to dry up excess ink. They were a mainstay in the first half of the 20th Century and became obsolete in the 1950's when the ball-point pen was invented. Blotter cards were on every office desk and made for a prime place to advertise your product or get your philosophy across to a captive audience. They can be found with a seemingly unlimited number of advertisers. Offered is a great collection of 27 ink blotters - all with a baseball theme. Some of the players found or referenced to include Mel Ott, Joe DiMaggio, Jackie Robinson, Walter Johnson, Frank Frisch, the 1929 Cubs and The US Marines Vs. Waseda University and many more. Only about half have dried ink on the reverse, the overall condition ranges from good to excellent. This is a great first step in collecting these nostalgic relics featuring our national pastime. Please see our web site for a detailed list of the contents of this collection.
