1909 Pittsburgh Pirates Team Supplement by Carl Horner. Colorful supplement issued by the "Pittsburg Press" utilizes the classic photography of Carl Horner (note that Wagner appears in his million dollar T206 pose!) to celebrate the Bucs' capture of the National League flag. The piece's original owner Paddy O'Connor appears as the portrait vignette labeled number "19." Upon close inspection some light creases are discovered, but the overall aesthetics are first class from any reasonable viewing distance. The supplement is housed in its original wooden frame with a label from O'Connor's Springfield, Massachusetts hometown. Full dimensions are 14x21". This is the first example we've encountered of this rare piece, and it's almost certainly the finest of any possible surviving supply.

    The Paddy O'Connor Collection.

This is one of sixteen lots deriving from the personal collection of Paddy O'Connor, a native of County Kerry, Ireland who quickly discovered an aptitude for our National Pastime upon his immigration to the States. O'Connor's baseball career included brief terms in the American, National and Federal Leagues, and most notably membership with the World Championship 1909 Pittsburgh Pirates. The material offered here is consigned directly by the O'Connor family.
