1906 World Series Program (Chicago Cubs). The third playing of the Fall Classic saw the battle confined entirely to the Windy City, with six contests split between the Cubs' West Side Park and the Sox' South Side Park. Presented is an official program for the former, purchased by a fan at one of the odd-numbered games, though an absence of writing at the center scorecard will keep the precise game a mystery. Despite winning 116 games en route to the National League pennant, it was the "Hitless Wonders" of the American League who would claim the Championship.

The sixteen-page program survives in remarkably fine condition, aided in small part by masterful restoration of minor tears at the edges of the covers, only apparent upon the closest inspection. Wonderful period photography and graphics serve as a glorious tribute to the Dead Ball Era game, and the infancy of the sport's greatest proving grounds.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
