    Description

1897 Home Base Ball Game by McLoughlin Bros. The marvelous period cover art was used for several different McLoughlin Brothers games, another example of which is found within this auction catalog. It should be noted that later versions find the sharpness of the image diminishing due to wear of the stone used for lithography, but this image remains wonderfully registered. This larger format game makes use of a spinner to determine the course of play. A full contingent of eighteen wooden player markers are here, with all contents including the playing surface surviving remarkably well. Wear is only apparent to the outer edges of the box and lid, but the glorious graphics are spared almost completely but for a a few surface wrinkles on the lid and general soiling. Dimensions 20x10x1".
