1888 Allen & Ginter A17 "World's Champions" Premium Tobacco Album. Spectacular Victorian age lithography makes this rare album one of the most aesthetically appealing artifacts in the card collecting hobby, the polar opposite of the soul-less glitz and glamour of today's high-tech issues. The cover "trumpets" the arrival of the "World's Champions," and the pages within reveal the biggest names in 19th century sports. Perhaps most noteworthy to our collecting clientele is the page dedicated to our national pastime, which features images of the coveted N43 issue, most notably Hall of Famer William "Buck" Ewing. Track and field, cycling, tennis, swimming and boxing stars fill the remainder of the twenty-eight pages of the album. Moderate edge wear accounts for the majority of condition issues, with the front and rear cover presenting as EX, and the interior pages NRMT with the very minor exception of a couple instances where the lower string binding has broken through the half-inch section that secured it to the spine. The actual designs are well clear of any of these minor flaws. They certainly don't make them like this anymore.
