Description

1881 Harry Wright Signed Scorecard. One of the true pioneers of the early game, Wright took center field duties for the first all-professional team, the 1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings, designed the standard baseball uniform and engineered the box scoring system, a specimen of which is wonderfully represented here. Offered is a single page from Wright's personal scoring book, filled out entirely in the early Hall of Famer's hand as he managed the Boston Red Stockings to a four-to-three victory over the Cleveland Blues. Reverse of the sheet is for a different game appearing to involve the 1884 Baltimore Monumentals according to the roster, and it is on this side that Wright supplies an autograph of sorts in the form of "HW" initials as "Scorer." All writing is 9+/10 pencil, and 4x6.5" score sheet itself is free of any condition flaws. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
