1881-1940 Spalding Official Base Ball Guide & Official Base Ball Record Lot of 19. From the personal library of Hall of Fame baseball executive Bill Veeck comes this exciting archive of publications founded by fellow Cooperstown resident A.G. Spalding. Each is jam-packed with period text and imagery, tracking the evolution of our National Pastime. All were rebound in hard covers decades ago, with the vast majority remaining in otherwise very strong condition, and only a small portion since coming partially or entirely loose from the new bindings. All are 100% legible front to back. The date of each volume is handwritten in white on the spine, and the inside back cover is stamped with facsimile signatures of "Mary Frances & Bill Veeck." First, the Base Ball Guides present: 1881,1883, 1891, 1893, 1897, 1914, 1918, 1923, 1928, 1931, 1935, 1938, 1938, 1940. And the Base Ball Records: 1910, 1912, 1918, 1922. Rarely does such a special library of early Spalding books come to market, much less one from a Hall of Fame source.
