1940-53 Dom DiMaggio Game Worn Boston Red Sox Cap.

UPDATE: The dating of this cap is in error. The tagging dates to 1957, suggesting the cap was worn by DiMaggio after his retirement as a player.

Although not quite the hitter his brother Joe was, Dom DiMaggio was a very solid player for the Boston Red Sox for eleven years (missing three years to military service). He was a high scoring hitter, as evidenced by his 1,046 runs and 1,680 hits, to go along with a batting average near .300. This Red Sox game worn cap is a Tim McAuliffe Pro KM model, size 7-1/8, with "DiMaggio embroidered inside the headband, as well as "#7 DiMaggio" written under the bill in vintage marker. Bill is cracked and has a tiny hole, and the headband is brittle and cracking, but overall the cap presents very nicely with excellent game use. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
