Babe Ruth Hartland Statue. In 1958, Hartland Plastic's Frank Fulop spent his summer as we would all love to -- attending every major league baseball game that he could. But it was more than his love of the game that drew Fulop to his favorite parks. Fulop was there to sketch the stars of both leagues. Every one of the 18 baseball statues that Hartland Plastics would produce from 1958 to 1962 came from these life sketches by Fulop. All but one, that is, as Babe Ruth had passed away some ten years earlier. For Ruth, Fulop had to work from a series of photos. Once the artist felt he had a good command of Ruth's likeness, he chose to pose the Babe in his legendary (some say mythical) "called shot" pose. That Ruth design was one of the first five to be introduced in 1958, and it proved to be one of the best sellers of the line for the next five years. We offer a NMT example of the Babe calling his shot in the 32 series at Wrigley.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
