One of just two known playing-days Bresnahan gamers!

Circa 1910 Roger Bresnahan Game Used Bat, PSA/DNA GU 9. It's just the second verified bat deriving from Roger Bresnahan's playing career ever to surface upon the hobby's auction block, though the remarkable and unimpeachable family provenance firmly supplies dominance to the presented model. The deeply age-toned lumber evokes the rough-and-tumble Dead Ball Era from the moment it tests your wrists with its forty-two and a half ounces (42.5 oz.) of weight packed into a rather stubby thirty-three inches (33") of length, the bulky dimensions perfectly matching period photography of the Duke of Tralee at the plate.

The sturdy construction of Dead Ball Era bats allowed for long terms of service to their masters, and we see such evidence in a populous array of ball marks on the barrel, and splatters of tobacco juice darkening the lumber even further. Original spiral of grip tape remains at the thick handle, measuring a foot from end to end.

Though the "Mohawk" brand bat lacks any stamped player attribution, as was standard for the manufacturer, the ironclad provenance leaves no question of its lineage nor its elite desirability to advanced collectors. The odds of another Bresnahan gamer surfacing in the future, particularly any with such unimpeachable history, are long indeed. Certainly one of the most significant entries in the incredible "Roger Bresnahan Collection" presented within this February 2015 Platinum Night event. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 9. Letter of provenance from the Bresnahan family.
