Description

Circa 1910 Eddie Collins Full Size Decal Bat. They called him "Cocky," and with a lifetime batting average of .333 and 3,315 career hits, he could be forgiven for a bit of arrogance. The offered artifact dates from early in the Hall of Famers' quarter-century playing career, when he was representing Connie Mack's first great Athletics dynasty. Measuring at 33.5", this "Hillerich & Bradsby" lumber exhibits medium wear throughout.

The offered example is one of the bats that come from the collection of a former Major League Baseball player that now serves in the front office of an MLB team. A selection of the vintage signed bats were purchased from a well known dealer, but all of the bats that represent a modern-era player was collected personally by the player and added to his collection. In addition, some of the bats are game-used, and others are game-issued examples that were simply signed and given to him for his collection.
