    Description

Circa 1890 "Crown Standard" Ringed Baseball Bat. Rare 19th century bat might be the prettiest lumber we've ever encountered, forgoing the traditional ash with which we are familiar for something that appears to be burlwood, polished and tightly grained. It's the second "Crown Standard" bat to appear in a major auction according to our results database, suggesting this was no mass-produced sporting good. Some use is evident, most apparent in some blue paint and a light crack at the barrel end, but otherwise the bat remains solid and perfect for display. Length is 35".
