    Description

    c. 1968-70 John Briggs Philadelphia Phillies Game Used Bat. Signed at age 18 by the Philadelphia Phillies for $8,000, just before his hometown Mets could make an offer of their own, John Briggs would go on to play a dozen seasons in the majors - eight in Philadelphia. Appearing only sparingly as a 20-year old in 1964, Briggs would not blossom until he got traded to Milwaukee, improving significantly on all of the career marks he had put up in Philly.

Offered is a cracked 35.5" Adirondack Big Stick John Briggs 194 VP model bat. Heavy game usage is evident throughout with tarring on the handle and ball marks throughout the barrel. Taping on the upper handle obscures the crack. The knob features a number "12" written in black marker. Labeling dates the bat from 1968 to 1970, when Briggs was still with the Phillies. Letter of Provenance from Kansas City Royals Batboy.
