2012 Derek Jeter All-Star Game Used Bat with Photo Matches, PSA/DNA GU 10. Right on the heels of a $155,350 result for the Captain's 1996 World Series bat in our February 2014 Platinum Night auction comes another key Jeter "event" bat, this one utilized to set the all-time hits record for a Yankee in Midsummer Classic competition. Jeter led off the bottom of the first inning against Giants right-hander Matt Cain with an infield single to move past Mickey Mantle with his eleventh All-Star hit. Five high-resolution 8x10" photos of Jeter in action in that Kansas City contest provide a perfect match to the constellation of ball marks adorning the glossy black surface of the signature model Louisville Slugger P72.

Expert John Taube characterizes the use as "excellent," directing attention to the aforementioned ball marks, stitch impressions, cleat marks and a light Mota Stick coating on the handle. Knob is stamped with manufacturing date (07/07/12), length (34.0) and weight (32.0). Silver sharpie signature on the barrel projects strongly. As the iconic shortstop sails off into the sunset, his memorabilia values should soar into the stratosphere, so smart investors are buying now. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 10. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
