Description
2001 Albert Pujols Rookie Season Game Used Bat, PSA/DNA GU 10 -- Only 5 in PSA/DNA Pop Report! The best Pujols bat we have offered thus far, and we suspect one of the best exemplars ever offered for public sale. Dates from the future Hall of Famers' rookie season in Saint Louis, when he batted .329 with 112 runs, forty-seven two-baggers, thirty-seven long balls, and 130 RBI. That season, t twenty-one-year-old prodigy also earned an All-Star berth, fourth place finish in the league MVP tally, and the N.L. Rookie of the Year Award.Prince Albert's Louisville Slugger model C243 measures thirty-four inches (34") in length and weighs thirty-one ounces (31 oz,). Displays uncracked and with excellent evidence of game use, including ball marks, ball stitch impressions, and blue ink transfers on all sides of the barrel; cleat marks on the left barrel; ring from weighted batting donut; red and green bat rack streaks on the handle and barrel; and light coat of pine tar on the upper handle. Meanwhile, the bat also displays "5" on the knob and barrel end in vintage black marker. Furthermore, the knob also displays the bat's weight ("31.6") and "Game," both of which appear ion blue ink.
The barrel is signed and inscribed "Albert Pujols #5" in 10/10 vintage blue sharpie. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from well-known hobbyist and Pujols expert, Jeff Scott, which details the history and acquisition of this specimen, along with a copy of the Hillerich & Bradsby bat records.
