Description

2001 Albert Pujols Game Used & Signed Rookie Bat, PSA/DNA GU 8.5. Imagine a Ted Williams bat from 1939, or a Mickey Mantle from 1951. Someday it is very possible, even likely, that this punished gamer will be seen in the same heavenly light. This is one of the better Albert Pujols bats we have offered from the future Hall of Famers' rookie season in Saint Louis, when he batted .329 with 112 runs, forty-seven two-baggers, thirty-seven long balls, and 130 RBI. That season, the twenty-one-year-old prodigy also earned an All-Star berth, fourth place finish in the league MVP tally, and the N.L. Rookie of the Year Award.

The offered SAM model SG1 bat (34" and 32.5 ounces) saw action when Pujols burst onto the Major League scene. Numerous ball marks and stitch impressions are visible on the back barrel from when the future Hall of Famer made contact with the horsehide. A handle crack was professionally repaired. PSA bat expert John Taube classifies the use as "excellent" according to his letter of opinion. Taube noted the following: "The barrel appears to have been scrubbed as part of the repair." Black, green and red bat rack streaks appear as does a light layer of pine tar.

"5" is written in the middle of the SAM Bat "Made in Canada" sticker and a PSA/DNA certification sticker is just above. The cupped end also has "5" and the following written by the bat company: "34" 32 oz. 07 05 01 SG A.P." Pujols signed the bat in brilliant black felt tip and added "ROY 01 The Machine 703 HRs." LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 8.5. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
