Description

2000 Ichiro Suzuki Game Used Bat from Final Season in Japanese Nippon League, PSA/DNA GU 9.5. The first Japanese national inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame would be the reigning Hit King if his tally from the other side of the Pacific counted toward his MLB tally, and it's clear that this personal model Mizuno B51 was responsible for no shortage of the production that brought him to the attention of American scouts. The distinctive war club features a barrel with a cool flat top and a wide array of ball marks and stitch impressions leading down to heavy pine tar on the cracked and repaired handle. Model number is stamped on knob end.

Ichiro won his seventh consecutive Pacific League batting title in 2000 before bidding farewell to his Orix Blue Wave teammates and fans, hitting an outrageous .387. While the bat has not yet been officially photo matched, the superstar outfielder is clearly using this model in photography from that season, and a photo is posted of Ichiro using this bat model in Japan (the photo does not show the exact bat presented). The bat is accompanied by a letter from a Japanese fan who purchased the bat from a friend of Ichiro while living in Kobe, not far from the Blue Wave home ballpark. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 9.5. Letter of provenance from original collector.
