Description
1999 Mark McGwire Game Used Signed Bat. Mark McGwire's encore act of 1998 was pretty impressive. A year after setting the single-season home run record, McGwire smacked 65 home runs. Used during that remarkable year is this Adirondack bat - 33 ounces and 34.5". The bat shows exemplary use with ball marks, stitch impressions and a healthy application of pine tar extending from the handle to trademark. The bat's life ended when Big Mac cracked the handle. "MAC 25 382 99" is stamped into the knob while "33 McGwire" is written in blue ballpoint. We have seen a number of such bats which mirror the penning on the knob. McGwire signed the barrel in 10/10 black felt tip and inscribed "70" as well. Authentication is concrete as a Cardinals Care letter of provenance will attend.
