Description

1998 Tony Gwynn Hit #2,800 Game Used & Signed Bat, PSA/DNA GU 9.

UPDATE: The "2800" notation on the barrel is applied in an unknown hand.

He's the only man on the top twenty list for career batting average that did not play before the Second World War, one of the most skilled batsmen in the game's long history. This Louisville Slugger model B267 (32.78" and 30.1 ounces) was used when Gwynn recorded hit #2,800 game. Gwynn documented his important hit bats and this beauty ranks near the top.

PSA/DNA graded the uncracked lumber GU 9. The blonde bat shows excellent use with ball marks and ink transfers on the right and front barrel from connecting with the ball. Cleat marks and white athletic spiral tap are on the handle. The following is written on the handle: "4/21/98" (date of hit), "B267C" (model number), "33-30 1/2" (length/weight), "19" (player number) and "H2800" (hit number). The end is cupped. Gwynn signed the barrel in bold black felt tip. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 9. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from Beckett Authentication Services.
