The only man in the top twenty for career batting average who never played a single game before World War II, Gwynn is celebrated here with his signature model Louisville Slugger B267 used to record the 2,724th of his career 3,141 hit tally, recorded in a loss to the Nationals on August 2, 1997. Good game use is evident, with ball marks, rack streaks, and pine tar and grip tape at the knob. Length is just under thirty-three inches (32.875"), weight just over thirty-one ounces (31.1 oz.).
