1985 Pete Rose Game Used Corked Bat, PSA/DNA GU 10. We were shocked, frankly, shocked to learn that Mr. Hustle might have broken the rules, but the evidence is tough to deny. This Mizuno model PR 4192 is quite clearly altered, with bat authenticator John Taube noting in his detailed letter, "During the referenced labeling period, Pete Rose was known to cork a few of his bats. The general thinking is that he was looking for an advantage while approaching the All Time Hit Record. The appearance of the top barrel raised suspicion that the subject bat was corked. To answer any questions, the barrel has been x-rayed and does reveal that the barrel has been drilled and filled with material that we assume is cork." But let's face it--if you still love Pete Rose after all the scandals, lies and begrudging admissions, this infraction isn't going to change anything.

Destined to be the best conversation piece in your collection, this late-career gamer exhibits tremendous use, with multitudes of ball marks and checking to the punished grain. The handle has been taped with five rings and a large spiral on the upper handle, each known Rose traits. In fact, the bat appears to be a match to the included cover of the August 19, 1985 Sports Illustrated magazine, signed by Rose with the inscription "To Eric, Take Care of This Bat." We've been informed that "Eric" is Eric Gregg, former National League umpire. Length of thirty-four inches and weight of thirty-two ounces are correct as well. A silver sharpie signature on the barrel completes the package. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 10. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA (autograph). Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication (autograph).

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
