    Description

1982 Pete Rose Signed "Banned" Game Bat. Just as they would do as Rose approached Ty Cobb's fabled record, Japanese bat company Mizuno produced special lumber for Charlie Hustle as he neared Stan Musial's National League-leading career hits mark. The experiment proved to be short-lived. As Rose debuted his special "rose-colored" bat at the plate, opposing manager and former teammate Frank Robinson emerged from his dugout to complain to the umpire about the bat's color. The umps agreed and the strict National League upheld the ruling, ensuring that these pretty gamers would never see action. It should be noted that while other look-alike bats were produced for autograph shows, the stamped letter "A" in the know identifies this as one of the twelve to twenty-four crafted for game use by Rose. This highly-collectible rarity presents as new, except for the 9/10 black sharpie "Best Wishes, Pete Rose" on the barrel. The "R3631" model number on the barrel relates to the approaching hit milestone figure. Length 34.75"; weight 32.5 oz. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA (autograph). Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication (autograph).
