Description

1978 Ozzie Smith Game Used & Signed Rookie Bat, PSA/DNA GU 9. The Wizard was narrowly edged out of victory in National League Rookie of the Year balloting despite a WAR more than a full point higher than winner Bob Horner, but the young shortstop would go on to earn fifteen All-Star nods, thirteen Gold Gloves and Cooperstown immortality in the years ahead. This rare signature model Hillerich & Bradsby C271 served Smith well during his debut campaign, revealing outstanding game use in the form of ball marks, stitch impressions, ink transfers, red rack streaks and slight checking (repaired) on the barrel. Handle is cracked and repaired, with light pine tar. Number "1" is written in vintage marker on knob. Length is thirty-four inches (34"), weight thirty ounces (29.9 oz.). Black sharpie signature on barrel is 9/10. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 9. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from Beckett Authentication Services.
