1977-79 Game Used Mickey Mantle Coach's Bat. We will never know the who, what, where or why of this bat, but we've got the "when" pegged. The markings of this signature model Hillerich & Bradsby R133 dates to the glory years of Jackson, Munson and Guidry, when the Mick had been relegated to the duty of spectator. Somebody used this bat though, and it may well have been Mantle himself, possibly in an Old Timer's Game, or showing the boys a thing or two before a game. Moderate action is visible in ball and stitch marks, as well as black and red bat rack streaks on the barrel. A light coating of pine tar is found on the handle. Length is thirty-five inches, and weight is thirty-five and a half ounces. Worth a fortune from Mantle's active playing career, professional model Mantle bats become more affordable for one smart collector here. LOA from Taube & Malta.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
