Description

1974 Don Sutton Game Used & Signed Bat, PSA/DNA GU 9.5. The 1998 Hall of Fame inductee recorded twenty wins only once during his twenty-three-season career, and this bat was used in a season where his finished just one win shy of the benchmark for pitching excellence. The man who sported baseball's finest perm, Sutton took plenty of hacks with this Hillerich & Bradsby model K55C bat (34.5" and 31.4 ounces) in 1974. Uncracked, the bat shows "outstanding" use according to John Taube's letter of authenticity. Moderate checking appears on the back barrel from the pitcher making contact.

The bat records indicate that Sutton did not order cupped end K55 model bats during this labeling period. But, the records show his orders of K75 cupped end bats matching the same length and weight as this specimen. "20" is underlined and written on the knob. Sutton signed just below the engravings in felt tip. The nicest Sutton lumber we have seen. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 9.5. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
