1973-75 Thurman Munson Game Used Bat. The perfect companion piece to the incredible Munson jacket from the era also appearing in this auction. This signature model Hillerich & Bradsby S44 exhibits simply massive use, easily the heaviest we've ever seen on a Munson bat. The barrel is coated with deep half moon shapes of ball strikes, with the barrel so mercilessly punished that the grain has begun to separate. Pine tar remnants form a black band on the handle, which leads down to a custom rubber ring at the knob. Length is thirty-four and a half inches, with a weight of thirty-three and a half ounces. It should be noted that while no personal order records for Munson exist for the "S44" during this era, it was not uncommon for the Yanks to order bats for their players, leaving this to be technically termed a "team index" variety. A very special piece remembering the fallen Yankee captain. MEARS A6.
