1971 Roberto Clemente World Series Game Used Bat, Graded PSA GU 10. His third inning home run in the deciding seventh game of the 1971 World Series gave the Pirates a lead they would not relinquish, helping to deliver the first World Championship since Mazeroski's 1960 blast to the people of Pittsburgh. While we cannot assert definitively that this is the bat responsible for that historic homer, an included letter of provenance from assistant Pirates clubhouse manager Chuck Cirelli attributes the signature model Hillerich & Bradsby U1 to that glorious October. The enormous Cooperstown-quality artifact is a full three feet in length and thirty-seven ounces in weight, not far off from the lumber utilized by the Babe during his career. Light use is evident, though experts Taube and Malta note in their LOA that Clemente was known for frequent bat changes, making this typical of his gamers. A few ball marks are visible on the back of the barrel, as are some bat rack streaks. Clemente's number "21" and the "37" ounce weight of the bat are written on the knob end. The combination of ideal specs, Fall Classic vintage and Cirelli provenance inspires a perfect PSA GU 10 grade, making this one of the most desirable Clemente gamers on earth. LOA from PSA/DNA. Letter of provenance from Chuck Cirelli.Auction Info
