1971 Ray Fosse Game Used All-Star Bat, MEARS A10. He served a dozen seasons in a Major League uniform, but Fosse's legacy will always be his role as the victim of Pete Rose's controversial home plate steamrolling to end the 1970 Midsummer Classic with a National League victory in the bottom of the twelfth. Presented is lumber issued to the Cleveland Indians catcher for his second and final All-Star nod the following season, a contest in which Fosse did not see action. We can therefore attribute the moderate use, evident in the form of ball marks, stitch impressions and rack streaks, to regular season action during the second half of the 1971 Indians campaign. Signature model Hillerich & Bradsby R43 provides "All Star Game Detroit 1971" on barrel. Length thirty-five inches, weight thirty-two ounces. Uncracked. LOA from MEARS, A10.
