1971 Brooks Robinson Game Used Bat Attributed to World Series, PSA/DNA GU 9.5. Adirondack Big Stick 277A is a format produced for the Hall of Fame third baseman between 1968 and 1970, but an interesting notation strongly suggests it saw action during the 1971 World Series, the third consecutive Fall Classic for Robinson's soaring Orioles. Expert John Taube's detailed letter of examination notes that the bat was submitted for review with a Frank Robinson bat (likewise appearing in this auction) ordered only for the '71 Series and bearing a similar inscription on the handle to the one we find on the Brooks bat--red ink text that reads, "Used in Series." Considering this context, we're confident that the attribution is accurate.

The bat is uncracked and exhibits excellent game use, with ball marks on the barrel and two colors of bat rack streaks. "BR 5" is written on the knob in blue marker, and the weight ("32 1/2") appears there in pencil. Length is thirty-five inches (35"). Check photography from this Fall Classic and you'll see Robinson utilizing this format, and quite likely this exact example in at least some of those shots. Mr. Robinson is one of the finest gentlemen we've met here at Heritage, so we'd advise the next owner to track him down for an autograph. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 9.5.
