Description

1969-72 Ernie Banks Game Used & Signed Bat, PSA/DNA GU 9.5. The long, lean Texan reimagined what could be expected from a middle infielder's offense, clubbing his way into the 500 Home Run Club with power generated from bat speed rather than brute strength. Presented is a signature model Hillerich & Bradsby S2 dating to the closing chapters of his Hall of Fame career. Heavy game use is evident in the form of ball marks, stitch impressions and rack streaks, with light pine tar on the cracked handle.

Particularly desirable here is the presence of "Yosh Marks," handwritten model and length notations on the knob applied to 1960's and 1970's Chicago Cubs bats by longtime clubhouse manager Yosh Kawano. Every Cubs bat collector understands those notations to be a hallmark of authenticity. Banks' jersey number "14" is likewise written on the knob. Length is thirty-six inches (36"), weight just short of thirty-five ounces (34.7 oz.). LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 9.5. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from Beckett Authentication Services.
