1968 Roberto Clemente Game Used Bat. The heavy use on this signature model Hillerich & Bradsby U1 is a bit of a surprise, actually, as the twenty-seven intentional walks issued to this dangerous Pirate in 1968 led the National League, topping even the likes of Hank Aaron and Willie McCovey. It's clear that Roberto got a hold of quite a few pitches despite these free passes though, as the barrel of this massive (thirty-six and three quarter inches, thirty seven ounces) war club is coated with ball marks and stitch impressions throughout. Blue and red bat rack streaks are easily discerned as well, as are traces of pine tar and the impressions of a weighted batting donut. Number "21" is written in both red and black marker on the knob end in the standard Pirates font. It should be noted that only once did Clemente order bats of this extended length, on May 15th, 1968, allowing us to definitively establish its exact vintage. The use and correspondence with official records result in an all but unimprovable grade of PSA/DNA GU 9.5. LOA from PSA/DNA.
