    Description

1968-70 Bob Gibson Game Used Bat, PSA/DNA GU 8.5.
Your odds are good--two out of three, in fact--that this ultra-rare lumber dates to a Cy Young season for this hard-throwing Hall of Famer, as Gibby claimed pitching's top honor in 1968 and in 1970, earning the National League MVP award as well in the former. Though the Cardinals legend pitched his way to Cooperstown bronze, he was not helpless with the lumber in his hands, averaging a long ball a season and a respectable .243 average during this span.

The experts at PSA/DNA, who note in their letter of authenticity that only nine Gibson bats exist in their database, characterize the game use on this Adirondack 154A as "outstanding," noting ball marks, stitch impressions, cleat marks and a handle crack now secured with masking tape. A palm pad appears just below, and number "45" is written in vintage marker on the knob.

Length and weight are thirty-five inches (35") and thirty-four ounces (33.7 oz.) respectively. The bat derives from the personal collection of Kansas City Royals bat boy (early 1970's to early 1980's) Greg Stiegler. A top-tier example of one of the subgenre's most coveted post-war rarities. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 8.5. Letter of provenance from former Kansas City Royals Bat Boy Greg Stiegler.
