Description
1967-79 Bobby Murcer Game Used Fielder's Glove and Bat. He may not have lived up to the expectations of being "the next Mickey Mantle," but Bobby Murcer still managed to turn in an impressive career that spanned over 17 seasons. A five-time All Star, and Gold Glove Award winner in 1972, Murcer used the offered baseball bat and mitt during the later part of his career.The bat is his typical "Hillerich & Bradsby S2L" model, weighing 32.6 ounces and measuring at 35" in length. Presenting a labeling period of 1977-79, Murcer used this fine (slightly cracked) lumber during his days in the Windy City with the Cubs.
The glove was one of Murcer's favorites, as can be determined from its extensive wear exhibited throughout. The word "Bobby" is written on the exterior, while letters "P-R-A-Y" occupy the fingers on the verso. Glove was produced for Spalding (by Rawlings) from the 1967-69 time period. The glove was actually obtained from the estate of Joe DiMaggio, who was given the glove by Murcer to use in a 1969 Old Timers game (see photo).
