1966 Frank Robinson Game Used Bat from Triple Crown Season, PSA/DNA GU 9.5. It's considered one of the most lopsided trades in Major League history, Reds owner Bill DeWitt sending a thirty-year old Frank Robinson to Baltimore prior to the 1966 season in exchange for pitchers Milt Pappas and Jack Baldschun, and outfielder Dick Simpson. It was a transaction that made DeWitt a pariah in his Cincinnati hometown, and Robinson an instant hero to his new fans in Memorial Stadium, where he'd become the first and only man in stadium history to launch a home run beyond its confines on May 8, 1966.

It would prove to be one of a career-best forty-nine (49) for Robinson, who would likewise lead all American Leaguers with 122 runs batted in and a .316 batting average to claim the fabled Triple Crown. Voting for the Most Valuable Player Award was a mere formality, with Robinson claiming all twenty first-place ballots. Orioles teammates Brooks Robinson and Boog Powell claimed second and third place.

The presented signature model Hillerich & Bradsby R143 matches a single May 11, 1966 order for Robinson and exhibits heavy use from the months that followed, with ball marks, stitch impressions, green rack streaks and heavy pine tar on the cracked handle. The experts at PSA/DNA are able to definitively assign this vintage due to the unique center brand that appears only in 1966. Length of thirty-five inches (35") and weight of thirty-two ounces (31.7 oz.) are exact to H&B records. Number "20" appears on knob in faded vintage marker, as does a smaller "32" denoting weight in ounces. Black sharpie signature on the barrel rates 9/10. A marvelous representation from one of the greatest offensive seasons of the post-war Major Leagues. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 9.5. Full LOA from PSA/DNA (autograph). Full LOA from SGC Authentic (autograph).
