1964 Carl Yastrzemski Game Used Bat, Graded Perfect 10. For the discerning bat collector who requires nothing but the best. Ideal physical characteristics and solid provenance conspire to create the ideal Yaz lumber, graded a perfect 10 by top expert Dave Bushing, who is effusive in his praise, writing "Deep ball/lace stitch marks esp. above barrel stamp, deep markings, perfect finish, unimprovable bat." It comes to us by way of a gentleman who was lucky enough to be friends with a Chicago White Sox bat boy in his youth. After Yaz cracked his bat while visiting Comiskey Park with the Red Sox, the bat boy retrieved it and presented it to the young man as a souvenir. The handle crack has since been professionally restored, and is only apparent upon the closest of inspection. Bushing notes that the specifics of the signature model Hillerich & Bradsby W166, with its thirty-five inch length and thirty-two ounce weight, match factory records for a shipment on July 22, 1964, suggesting that the owner was mistaken in his recollection of an early-season game. Vintage marker number "8" on knob matches known exemplars. A perfect early-career gamer from one of the most beloved sporting figures in Boston history, entirely deserving of its perfect rating.
