A classic gamer from the era of his 500th home run

1964-67 Mickey Mantle Game Used & Signed Bat, PSA/DNA GU 8.5. It's identical to the model he's gripping on the face of his 1965 Topps card, an image almost certainly snapped during the previous season, one in which the Mick clubbed World Series home runs numbers sixteen through eighteen. The Adirondack 113A exhibits tremendous use from a particularly consequential period for the Commerce Comet, one speckled with key records and milestones. The 1964 season, the first of four years of production for this important lumber, marked the twelfth and final American League Championship for Mantle. A second place finish to Brooks Robinson in American League MVP voting would wrap a bow on that last pennant march.

Though the fates of the Mick and the Yankees would start to turn in the years to follow, there is great potential for this bat to have participated in some of Mantle's noteworthy late-career moments. Beyond his assumption of the World Series home run title captured from the Babe, Mantle added another long ball plaudit to his resume during this bat's production era, becoming the sixth member of the 500 Home Run Club on May 14, 1967. It was also during this year that the Mick surpassed Lou Gehrig to become the longest serving Yankee in team history.

The thirty-five inch (35") slab of pale ash boasts battle scars in the form of ball marks and stitch impressions on the barrel and a light coating of pine tar on the uncracked handle. Knob is adorned with a vintage "#7" notation in black marker, and the barrel supplies a 7/10 black sharpie autograph, a rare feature on Mantle gamers. Weight is thirty-three and a third ounces (33.3 oz.). LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 8.5. Full LOA from PSA/DNA (autograph). Full LOA from James Spence Authentication (autograph).
