1961 Willie Mays All-Star Game Used Bat, PSA/DNA GU 8. The top talent in the Majors battled twice this Midsummer, packing fans into Candlestick and Fenway Parks respectively for the National and American League home games. The great Willie Mays, of course, was a starting member of each game's roster, and it was during one (if not both) of these battles that the Say Hey Kid made use of the presented signature model Adirondack M63. This would prove to be the eighth of nineteen consecutive appearances in the sport's most celebrated exhibition.

Expert John Taube characterizes the bat's use as "heavy," suggesting that Mays continued using the lumber as he went on to lead the National League in runs scored for the 1961 season while adding forty long balls to his 660 career total. Several ball marks and stitch impressions appear, with grain checking and a green stain near center handle. Length is thirty-five inches; weight thirty-one ounces.

While any bat deriving from the arsenal of the game's greatest five-tool player carries tremendous collecting intrigue, the appeal grows exponentially with a specimen that directly acknowledges his excellence with the block lettered "1961 All Stars" lettering. This is truly rarefied air for the advanced game used bat collector. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 8.
